Mmm Tasty

At home I live right next to a huge fitness centre...thing. As you can tell by my lack of knowledge, I don't frequent the place very often. In fact, pretty much never. I am not one for the gym, but they do have a swimming pool.

I've met some friends twice this week for a morning swim, which has worked out pretty great as I'm working crazy hours in the evening! And I get to do my dying dolphin impression, otherwise known as trying to swim.

Today I swam and then spent the afternoon in the garden in the sun, and a tasty bowl of fruit and yoghurt. OM. I also managed to catch up on some reading, and a bit of news.

I should probably go and get presentable and consider dinner before work, but I'm feeling somewhat sun-dazed and might just watch re-runs of How I Met Your Mother for a bit longer.

Catching Up

True to form, I've somewhat struggled to blog regularly since coming home. It's been a bit of a blur since coming back, and though I'm still struck every so often for Mile End and the joys of city life, I've got used to being back in the south.

(After watching the football the other day, which in itself was a bit of a surprise, I caught some of the hackney weekend being aired and all I could see was the beautiful East. I might have squealed and got a tad emotional. Woops.)

Anyway, tonight is my only evening in for the next two weeks. I've somehow acquired a job, but unfortunately it means working til midnight most of the time. Boo. I fear this could hinder seeing friends, but we shall see! The pennies will certainly be helpful as we've finally booked our summer holiday! to PISA we shall go. Well near enough, it's some sort of villa in the middle of nowhere. I am insanely excited considering it is months away.

So for some more recent news, I've been to the beach and the forest a fair bit, might've got caught in some some sort of bog a couple of days ago too. Oh and it was the bessie's 21st birthday, so we had a huge BBQ and a lot of pimms. Today I went swimming, and then watched Toy Story 2 which was an absolute treat. I am one of those shocking people that has yet to see the third one, so I was getting prepared.

I've also begun to learn guitar. Well, I say learn, I've learnt the strings or whatever for about five chords. I was greatly saddened by the need to chop my nails off though, so have yet to proceed. Also, it hurt my hands!

With all of that going on, there's not been much time for blogging so I do apologise. I've just found photos from my last days in London and my return to the coast, so enjoy some cocktail inspired photos, and a few with a nice dose of nature.

That's probably enough photo spamming for now! No doubt there'll be a few more over the next few weeks. I am ever so excited about the return of the rest of my friends. They've all become very old and are graduating and such, which is nothing but scary pyjamas. I am uber proud of them though, and think they're the absolute bees knees so I can't wait til we're all reunited!

Enough rambling, I must go to bed. In the meantime, I hope you are all as freaked out as I am that Harry Potter is 15 years old. The fact that I remember it all coming out makes me feel ancient.

Pining Away

A week has passed and I am longing for those busy streets in London that turn your feet black with grime, the noise of the weekend markets, and the transport that allows you travel any time of the night.

I think that realising I am back at home for more than just a couple of weeks has allowed it to lose some of its sparkle. Also, it's been blowing a gale and raining cats and dogs. Just to use all of the ridiculous sayings imaginable. Anyway, with so little do (I remain unemployed at present) and with few people back from Uni, and my other friends working full time, it's been a rather slow week. In fact, I have been to Nero twice, had dinner at a friends and wandered around town. I've also read all three Hunger Games books. Addictive but unimpressive. And that, quite frankly summarises my accomplishments. Added on top of that the irritations of family life and I am a tad grumpy this Saturday evening.

So yes, you might have noticed that this is a rather whiney post. I'm going to choose to blame the Hormones. Those noxious chemicals that I'm fairly sure are every girls poison. Talk about having destructive consequences!

Tonight I've watched an inordinate amount of Gossip Girl and am well on my way to catching up with Season 5. Chuck Bass is more beautiful than ever, and I feel more inspired by hair-dos than I have in a long time.

On that note, I am going to rest my achey head. Tomorrow is Sunday which means Church. HURRAH. I can't wait.

Sweet dreams, sleep tight! xxx

Back at Home

So this weekend I moved out of London to spend my summer back at home in Bournemouth. It hasn't stopped raining since I left. Or arrived, whichever way you want to look at it.

I've got lots of photos to post after having my sister visit, as well as a friend, but for now I shall just say that old friends are sometimes the best, and a coffee with one of those is definitely enough to set your heart at ease.

I'm currently enjoying my favourite song in the world and attempting to write a personal statement. It's not going well, but I'm going to persevere because the programme I'm applying for sounds so amazing. Anyway, tea and late night creativity shall keep me company.

Much love amigos xxx

Your Love is Amazing.

If I searched the heavens, all of creation
Could anything compare?
With what I've discovered filling my vision
I can only stand and stare.

Your love reaches the heavens, fills the sky
Greater than heart or mind can grasp.

Your love is amazing, God
So high, so vast
It reaches even me
Now that You've found me, Lord
My heart is Yours
This is where I want to be.

And though I have tasted what the world offers
It never satisfies
But now I will be what Your love makes me
I'm seeing with new eyes.

Your love reaches the deepest part of me
Defines who I am and what I'll be.

How beautiful, how merciful
How wonderful is Your love.

Sisters

My sister and I have a strange relationship. Nearly seven years separate us in age, and we're rather different. She's the tanned, skinny, artistic one. I feel she got all the good genes. Anyhow, when I lived at home we tended to argue. She is the one person that knows exactly how to wind me up in under ten seconds...perhaps that was a consequence of the good genes, who knows!

Anyway, since I've moved to London, things seem to have improved. Apart from the casual fight when I spend a few too many days back at home. So, with me leaving Uni in a week, we decided it was about time for her to come and pay me a visit. She arrived Friday morn, and left this evening so it was only brief, but we managed to travel all over London.

With a trip to the East End Thrift Store, which I adore, and a few new purchases in hand, we grabbed some lunch and headed to Covent Garden. I may have bought some sort of glass and white metal jewellery display table super cheap is Sass and Belle, and a new top in H&M. Woops. In the evening I cooked up a culinary feast, which essentially means I put pizza in the oven and fed her lots of rocket salad for some greens.

We then headed to Genesis, the local cinema to watch Snow White and the Huntsman, which, though fairly awful, did manage to redeem itself with a few nicely shot things and some good looking men. Also, the dwarves were quite, quite wonderful and there were a few moments that felt LOTRish. Always a good thing.

This morning we got up and went to Borough Market, tried all of the insane food, and then had a picnic in Southwark Cathedral before heading to Portobello Road. The sister has never seen either of those she was like a kid in a candy store, which in Borough market wasn't too far from the truth.

Sisterly Love

After taking her to the coach station, I got BACK on the tube AGAIN and went to a friend's new music night. He's launched something called Vine Sessions, a brand new folk night for unsigned artists. It was amazing. It also helped that I knew a couple of people performing and a LOT of the crowd. We drank and chat and danced and clapped and I'm now soooo tired.

In fact, the use of capitals, long rambling sentences that never seem to end and just talk about rubbish, all suggest that it's time for bed.

The new Sigur Ros album, Valtari is playing, I've had a very late dinner of bread and cheese, and I'm going to go dream. Tomorrow I'll be at the Jubilee River Pageant. Might try and have a cuppa with Her Majesty after church in the morn. I'll let you know if she's as civilised as her suits and hats make out.

Much love friends, may you sleep well and enjoy the bank holiday!!
